Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed it targeted a data center of US company Oracle in the UAE in retaliation for a strike that injured a former foreign minister and killed his wife. Dubai authorities swiftly rejected the report as “fabricated and incorrect.”

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had struck the data center and information infrastructure of American technology firm Oracle in the United Arab Emirates, according to state-run IRNA news agency. The Iranian military body said the operation was retaliation for a US-Israeli strike on April 1 that reportedly injured former Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi and killed his wife at their home in Tehran. However, Dubai authorities have flatly denied any such attack took place.

Dubai rejects claim as false

In a statement posted Friday on X, the Dubai Media Office said the circulating reports were “fabricated and incorrect.” The denial came swiftly after Iranian media began broadcasting the claim. No independent verification of the alleged strike has emerged, and Oracle has not yet issued a public statement regarding the reported targeting of its regional infrastructure.

Wider conflict and Türkiye’s concern

The conflicting reports emerge against the backdrop of a broader US-Israeli air offensive on Iran that began on February 28, which has killed more than 1,340 people, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation. For Türkiye, which maintains close economic and diplomatic ties with both Iran and the UAE, the incident—whether real or fabricated—underscores the dangers of misinformation during active hostilities. Ankara continues to urge all parties to exercise restraint and rely on verified channels to avoid further escalation.
