Iran condemns US strikes on coastal sites as ceasefire violation

Iran's Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned US strikes on radar and coastal surveillance facilities in southern Sirik and Qeshm Island, characterizing the attacks as a breach of the April 8 ceasefire agreement and warning that Washington would bear responsibility for any escalation.
Iran's Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned US strikes on radar facilities in southern Sirik and Qeshm Island, labeling the attacks a breach of the April 8 ceasefire accord and an act of aggression against national sovereignty.
Ceasefire violations
In a statement issued early Saturday, the ministry said the targeted facilities were tasked with safeguarding Iran's borders and securing international shipping lanes. The attacks formed part of Washington's continued hostile actions against Tehran and reflected a disregard for international law and the UN Charter, it added.
Self-defense response
The ministry said Iran's armed forces responded to the aggression under the country's right to self-defense, preventing the attacks from achieving their objectives. Citing Iran's right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the ministry said Tehran would deploy all available means to protect its sovereignty, security and national interests.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps later confirmed that missiles targeted US military bases across the region in retaliation for the strikes.
