Iran announces technical talks with US concluded in Switzerland

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that technical negotiations with the United States concluded in Burgenstock, Switzerland, with agreements to establish working groups and implementation mechanisms, advancing Qatari- and Pakistani-mediated efforts to end the war.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced early Tuesday that technical negotiations with the United States have concluded in Burgenstock, Switzerland, with both sides agreeing on arrangements for future talks aimed at ending the US-Israel-Iran war. The discussions, which continued through Monday, focused on establishing working groups and implementation mechanisms to advance the peace process.
Gharibabadi, who led Tehran's technical team, said the four-party discussions produced concrete agreements on future negotiating formats, according to the official IRNA news agency. The talks built upon Sunday's high-level committee meeting convened to monitor implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Implementation mechanisms agreed
"Technical discussions were held to determine the implementation mechanisms of the memorandum of understanding and the statement issued at the conclusion of the high-level meeting, and the necessary understandings were reached," Gharibabadi said. He added that the agreements reached in Switzerland would structure subsequent negotiations through specialized working groups.
The Islamabad Memorandum was signed virtually by the US and Iranian presidents on June 17, establishing a framework to end the conflict that began on February 28. Qatari and Pakistani mediators facilitated both the high-level political dialogue held over the weekend and this week's technical negotiations in Switzerland.
