Iran missiles hit separatist HQ in northern Iraq, group says

The Komala group said two missiles struck its headquarters in Erbil province early Wednesday, causing material damage but no casualties.
A separatist group said early Wednesday that Iranian missiles struck its headquarters in northern Iraq's Erbil province. A Komala leader told a local broadcaster that two missiles hit the group's position in the Alana Valley area.
The official said the attack caused only material damage and no casualties were reported, according to the broadcaster.
Group's status and regional backdrop
The Komala group is designated as a terrorist organization in Iran. It operates from Iraqi Kurdistan, where several Iranian opposition groups maintain bases despite Tehran's repeated demands for their expulsion.
Regional tensions have escalated since late February after the US and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, killing more than 3,000 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior military commanders and government officials.

Ceasefire efforts
A Pakistan-brokered ceasefire took effect on April 8, but efforts to reach a broader agreement have so far failed. Skirmishes and proxy actions have continued along Iran's borders and across the region as diplomats push for a lasting settlement.
