Iran stands ‘united against the enemy,’ parliament official says

A spokesman for Iran’s parliament presidium declared that the nation stands “united against the enemy” amid tensions with the US and Israel. “We have no differences, we are one nation, and our goal is one,” Abbas Goudarzi said, emphasizing that public support strengthens the negotiating team.
A spokesman for the presidium of the Iranian parliament stated on Monday that Iran remains “united against the enemy” as tensions with the United States and Israel persist. “We have no differences, we are one nation, and our goal is one. Our commonalities far outweigh the differences that exist,” Abbas Goudarzi told state news agency IRNA. Goudarzi emphasized the importance of public participation, noting that the people “make the square more vibrant and support the negotiating team and diplomacy.”
Remarks follow Trump’s ceasefire extension
Goudarzi’s comments came after US President Donald Trump extended a Pakistani-brokered ceasefire with Iran that initially took effect on April 8. Trump stated he would hold off on further action until Iranian leadership could present a “unified” position at the negotiating table. The ceasefire halted a weeks-long war that began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, followed by Tehran’s retaliatory strikes.
Talks to resume
Washington and Tehran held direct talks in Islamabad on April 11-12 but failed to reach an agreement. Efforts for another round of negotiations are currently underway. Goudarzi added that the people’s presence and support could influence the outcome of future talks with the US. The ceasefire extension remains in effect as diplomatic efforts continue.
