Iranian drones hit Kuwait International Airport, causing injuries and damage

Kuwait International Airport was struck by Iranian drones, damaging the main passenger terminal (T1) and injuring several people. Kuwait suspended flights indefinitely. The IRGC said the attack targeted US bases in Kuwait in response to an American strike on Qeshm Island. Kuwaiti forces are on full alert.
Kuwait International Airport was hit by Iranian drones on Wednesday, causing significant damage to the main passenger terminal and injuring several people, the Kuwaiti Defense Ministry announced. “Hostile drones struck T1, resulting in significant building damage and injuries,” ministry spokesman Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi said. The wounded received medical treatment. Kuwait’s General Directorate of Civil Aviation activated an emergency plan and suspended all flights “until further notice,” diverting incoming aircraft to other airports. The Kuwaiti Armed Forces “are monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant authorities and remain on full alert to respond to any developments,” Al-Otaibi added.
IRGC statement
Early Wednesday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that attacks targeting US bases in Kuwait were launched in retaliation for an American strike on Qeshm Island in southern Iran. The US had struck Iranian radar and drone command centers on Qeshm Island earlier in the week, following the downing of a US drone. The IRGC did not explicitly confirm that the airport was the intended target, but Kuwaiti officials described the drones as hostile. The attack marks a major escalation, as it directly hits critical civilian infrastructure in a US ally.
