Iran’s Araghchi, Hamas leader al‑Hayya discuss Gaza, regional fronts

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Hamas leader Khalil al‑Hayya discussed the latest Palestinian and regional developments. Al‑Hayya praised Iran’s stance for insisting on a simultaneous cessation of war across all fronts, including Lebanon.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone call Thursday with Khalil al‑Hayya, head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, to discuss Palestine and regional developments. Araghchi explained Iran’s latest measures to stop the war, stressing Tehran’s principled policy of supporting legitimate resistance against Israeli occupation, particularly in Palestine and Lebanon, according to Tasnim News Agency.
Support for simultaneous ceasefire
Al‑Hayya praised the Iranian negotiating delegation’s stance for demanding a simultaneous cessation of war across all regional fronts and expressed gratitude for Iran’s steady support for the Palestinian people. He also briefed Araghchi on the situation in occupied Palestine, especially Gaza, amid continued Israeli aggression and obstruction of the ceasefire. Despite a ceasefire last October, the Israeli army has killed 932 Palestinians and injured 2,859 in almost daily attacks, according to the Gaza Media Office.
Lebanon front
Separately, Lebanon and Israel agreed Wednesday to renew their fragile ceasefire and establish “pilot zones” placing the Lebanese army in exclusive territorial control, excluding all non‑state actors. The agreement followed a fourth round of US‑mediated talks in Washington. Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed nearly 3,500 people since March 2, despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 17 and was later extended to early July.
