Iran's army warns of 'decisive, swift' response to any US attack

Iran’s military has issued a stark warning that any US attack will be met with an immediate and overwhelming response. The threat follows the deployment of a US naval fleet to the region and escalating rhetoric from Washington.
The Iranian army has issued its most explicit warning yet, stating it will respond “decisively and swiftly” to any military attack by the United States. The declaration comes as a major US naval fleet moves closer to the Persian Gulf and fears of a direct confrontation reach new heights.
A Warning of "Real Time" Retaliation and Lessons from Past War
Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia, spokesperson for the Iranian army, delivered the warning in an interview with state television on Thursday. He stated that if the "enemy makes a foolish move and miscalculates again," the response would be delivered "in real time and without delay." He pointed to Iran’s 12-day war with Israel in June of the previous year as a precedent, claiming the US had previously made an “incorrect assessment of Iran’s capabilities.” Akraminia argued that the conflict demonstrated the futility of giving an adversary time to act, stating, "The enemy must be responded to instantly." He confirmed that formal directives have been issued to the armed forces to this effect.
Readying for War and Dismissing "Gunboat Diplomacy"
The spokesperson acknowledged that while Iran is fully prepared for war, predicting the actions of "Trump's America" is difficult, describing the US president as "narcissistic and delusional." He framed the current US military buildup as a form of outdated "gunboat diplomacy" aimed at extracting concessions, such as ending uranium enrichment and restricting missile programs. Dismissing these demands as having "no stopping point," Akraminia warned that Iran's retaliation to an attack "may not be desirable for the US." He explicitly threatened that American bases in the region would be within range of Iranian missiles, drones, and other weaponry, promising a conflict with a broad regional scope.
Enhanced Military Readiness and Capabilities
General Akraminia asserted that Iran’s armed forces are now at a "much higher level of readiness" than before, having integrated lessons from the recent war with Israel. He detailed that damaged air defense systems have been restored or replaced, new defensive systems have been deployed, and all branches of the military—ground, naval, and air forces—are on high alert. While downplaying the singular threat of US aircraft carriers, which he described as “vulnerable” to Iranian missile and hypersonic capabilities, he emphasized that modern warfare extends beyond naval power into other domains like “cognitive warfare.” The overarching message was one of a nation militarily primed and politically resolved to escalate instantly if attacked, leaving no room for a limited or controlled conflict.
