Israel continues Gaza ceasefire violations, killing 125 Palestinians since second phase began
AA
Displaced Palestinian families live under harsh conditions at a makeshift tents set up among the rubble in the port area of Gaza City, Gaza on February 5, 2026. Families forced to flee their homes continue to face harsh living conditions, lacking basic necessities while struggling to survive winter weather amid widespread destruction.

Israeli forces have committed at least 276 ceasefire violations since mid-January, killing 125 Palestinians and wounding 272 others during the second phase of the truce. Daily attacks and aid restrictions continue despite the agreement's transition.

Israeli forces have repeatedly violated the Gaza ceasefire since the start of its second phase in mid-January, killing and wounding Palestinian civilians despite the agreement's progression to a new stage. According to documentation by Anadolu based on official data, at least 125 Palestinians have been killed and 272 others wounded since January 15, with Israeli forces carrying out 276 breaches including shootings, airstrikes, incursions, and home demolitions.

Escalation in Recent Days

On Thursday alone, 27 Palestinians were killed and 18 wounded in attacks across the strip. Israeli airstrikes have intensified over the past 48 hours, with the military claiming the operations were in response to an injured soldier. Alongside the violence, Israel has blocked the entry of agreed-upon quantities of food, medicine, and shelter materials into Gaza, where approximately 1.5 million displaced people face catastrophic living conditions.

Civilian Toll and International Calls

Gaza’s Government Media Office stated that the vast majority of casualties during the second phase have been civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. Hamas has repeatedly called on mediators and the international community to pressure Israel to halt the attacks and uphold the ceasefire.

Background of the Ceasefire

The United States announced the launch of the second phase in mid-January after delays, outlining provisions for further Israeli troop withdrawals, transitional governance, and reconstruction. The ceasefire ended a two-year Israeli offensive that killed nearly 72,000 Palestinians, wounded over 171,000, and destroyed about 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure. Since the truce began in October 2025, Israeli violations have resulted in 574 Palestinian deaths and 1,518 injuries, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
