The Israeli army said it intercepted rockets launched from Lebanon toward northern areas early Tuesday and reported ongoing clashes in the border region involving tanks and armored vehicles, just hours after US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to halt all attacks against each other.

The Israeli army said early Tuesday it intercepted two rockets launched from Lebanon toward northern areas, with sirens sounding at 1:35 a.m. local time in regions north of Lake Tiberias and around Safed, according to Israel's Channel 12.

A second alert warning of hostile aircraft was triggered at 1:46 a.m. after a suspicious target was detected near the border, the army said, adding that the object fell inside Israeli territory without causing injuries. Hezbollah announced its fighters had targeted an Israeli armored force — a Merkava tank and three Humvees — advancing toward Al-Hamra with a guided missile, claiming a direct hit forced the Israeli unit to withdraw toward Al-Bayyada under artillery cover.

Trump announces ceasefire agreement

US President Donald Trump announced Monday that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to halt attacks against each other, stating he had received assurances through intermediaries that "all shooting will stop."

The latest exchange occurred just hours after Trump's announcement, with rocket fire and ground clashes continuing along the Lebanese border despite the stated truce.
