A view of The Ibrahimi Mosque (Cave of the Patriarchs) and its surrounding area in Hebron after Israel approved a series of measures to expand its “oversight and control activities” in areas under the administration of the Palestinian Authority in West Bank. Commenting on the decision, the Hebron Municipality said Israel’s move to assume authority over licensing, construction permits and municipal administration, along with plans to establish a separate “settlement municipality” within the city, represents a “dangerous alteration” of the long-standing status quo.

Israeli military raids across the occupied West Bank on Tuesday led to the detention of 25 Palestinians, according to local sources. The operations targeted homes in several cities and towns, continuing a pattern of intensified arrests.

Israeli forces detained 25 Palestinians during military operations across the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, local sources reported. The arrests were conducted during raids on homes in multiple cities and towns, primarily concentrated in the northern and southern parts of the territory.

Northern West Bank Operations

In the northern West Bank, the majority of detentions occurred. Israeli forces arrested 13 Palestinians in the city of Nablus and the towns of Beit Dajan, Deir al-Hatab, and Qusra following searches of their residences. Separately, seven Palestinians were detained from the village of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, during an early morning raid. Additional arrests were made in Jenin, where an undercover unit took a man from the al-Sweitat neighborhood, and in the town of Bal’a, east of Tulkarem.

Southern West Bank and Broader Context

In the southern West Bank, three Palestinians were arrested during raids on homes in the town of al-Shuyukh, north of Hebron. The Israeli military typically does not specify reasons for individual detentions, often referring to them broadly as "security operations" against "wanted" individuals.

Rising Detention Figures

These daily operations contribute to a significant number of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society, more than 9,300 Palestinians are currently detained, including 58 women and 350 children. Since the outbreak of the war on Gaza in October 2023, Israeli military activities in the West Bank have intensified. Official Palestinian figures report at least 1,112 Palestinians killed, approximately 11,500 wounded, and over 21,000 detained in the territory during this period—a pattern Palestinians describe as aimed at facilitating the formal annexation of the West Bank.
