Israeli forces assault two Palestinians, detain eight in West Bank raids

Israeli forces assaulted two young Palestinians and detained eight others during a series of overnight raids across the occupied West Bank. The two assault victims, beaten during a raid on the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp in Jericho, required hospitalization. The arrests took place in the towns of Silwad, Al-Araqa, and Bruqin.
Israeli forces assaulted two young Palestinians and arrested eight others during a series of raids across the occupied West Bank in the early hours of Sunday. The incidents are part of an ongoing pattern of military operations in the territory since the war in Gaza began in October 2023.
Assault in Jericho Refugee Camp
According to local sources, Israeli troops raided the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp in the city of Jericho, located in the eastern West Bank. During the incursion, soldiers severely beat two young men while storming their homes. The injured Palestinians were subsequently taken to a hospital for medical attention.
Arrests Across Central and Northern West Bank
The Israeli army conducted simultaneous operations in other areas. In the central West Bank, forces arrested four young Palestinians after raiding and searching their homes in the town of Silwad, northeast of Ramallah. Further north, two people were detained in the village of Al-Araqa, south of Jenin, and two others in Bruqin, west of Salfit, following similar home searches.
Context of Escalating Violence
These events contribute to a sharply rising toll of violence and detention in the West Bank. Palestinian figures state that Israeli forces and illegal settlers have killed at least 1,102 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since October 2023, with nearly 11,000 injured and approximately 21,000 detained. This ongoing situation persists despite a landmark opinion from the International Court of Justice last July, which declared Israel's occupation illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements.
