Israeli forces uproot West Bank olive trees, burn land

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli military vehicles have demolished farmland and uprooted ancient olive trees near Qalqilya. Separately, settlers set trees on fire east of Ramallah. The olive sector is a livelihood lifeline for thousands of Palestinian families, with attacks intensifying since October 2023.
Israeli occupation forces carried out a fresh wave of land destruction in the West Bank on Monday, targeting centuries-old olive groves and agricultural plots, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Demolition near Qalqilya
Military bulldozers moved into the al-Mahjar zone east of Azzun town, located east of Qalqilya, and began tearing up olive trees without any advance notice. The clearing operation covered an area roughly 500 meters wide around the illegal Israeli settlement of Ma’ale Shomron—built on land seized from Azzun’s residents.
Arson attack east of Ramallah
In a separate incident on Sunday evening, Israeli occupiers set fire to a number of olive trees on the outskirts of Burqa village, east of Ramallah, while Israeli forces simultaneously raided the area, WAFA reported citing local sources. Thousands of Palestinian households depend on olive harvesting as their primary income source.
