Israeli soldier killed, three hurt in south Lebanon clashes

One Israeli soldier was killed and three others wounded in clashes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, the Israeli army confirmed. The fighting comes despite a November 2024 ceasefire, as Israel continues an expanded offensive following a Hezbollah cross-border attack on March 2.
The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that one of its soldiers was killed and three others were injured during clashes in southern Lebanon. Among the wounded, one soldier sustained moderate injuries while two others suffered light wounds, according to army statements.
Ceasefire violations continue
The incident occurred as Israel presses forward with an expanded offensive in southern Lebanon, triggered by a Hezbollah cross-border attack on March 2. The escalation continues despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect in November 2024. Lebanese health authorities report that Israeli strikes have killed at least 2,089 people and wounded 6,762 others since the latest round of hostilities began.
Washington talks underway
The clashes come on the same day that Beirut and Tel Aviv are set to hold their first high-level meeting at the US State Department in Washington, aimed at securing a lasting ceasefire and launching direct negotiations. The outcome of those talks remains uncertain amid ongoing battlefield casualties.
