This fresh wave of attacks comes hours after the announcement of a ceasefire deal, brokered in Sharm el-Sheikh, intended to end the prolonged and deadly conflict in the Palestinian enclave.

The continued violence directly contradicts the 20-point ceasefire agreement, which was based on a plan presented by US President Donald Trump and first revealed on September 29. The terms of this truce include a cessation of hostilities, the release of Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, the disarmament of Hamas, and a plan for the reconstruction of the devastated Gaza territory.

The extensive and relentless military campaign has rendered much of Gaza uninhabitable, creating a severe humanitarian crisis characterized by widespread starvation and the spread of disease.
