Israeli strikes hit Gaza, marking new reported ceasefire violation

The Israeli military conducted airstrikes and artillery shelling in multiple areas of the Gaza Strip on Sunday, in what witnesses described as another violation of the standing ceasefire. Strikes were reported in eastern Khan Younis and Gaza City, while naval forces fired off the coast. Separately, Gaza's Interior Ministry announced an officer was killed by unknown gunmen in central Gaza.
Israeli military forces carried out a series of airstrikes and artillery attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, actions that local witnesses and correspondents say breached the current ceasefire agreement. The strikes targeted locations including eastern Khan Younis, an area under an Israeli army-controlled "yellow zone," and parts of eastern Gaza City in the north.
Naval Engagement and Detention of Fishermen
Israeli naval vessels also opened fire off the coast of Khan Younis, according to on-ground reports. Security sources told Anadolu that Israeli forces detained two Palestinian fishermen in the same area and subsequently detonated their boat. These incidents contribute to a pattern of reported violations since the truce officially took effect on October 10.
Mounting Casualty Figures and a Separate Security Incident
The latest military actions add to casualty figures reported by Gaza health authorities, who state that Israeli operations have killed over 70,300 people and injured more than 171,000 since the war escalated in October 2023. In a separate development, the Interior and National Security Ministry in Gaza announced that one of its officers was killed by unidentified gunmen in the Al-Maghazi camp within Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. The ministry confirmed an arrest had been made in connection with this killing and that an investigation is underway.
