Israeli strikes kill five in Lebanon despite ceasefire

Israeli drone and air attacks across southern and eastern Lebanon have killed five people, wounded three paramedics, and damaged a school. The strikes occurred despite a ceasefire that was extended until May 17. Official figures show over 2,700 killed and 8,300 wounded since March 2.
Israeli aerial strikes continue to pound Lebanese territory in violation of an existing truce, causing fresh casualties and destruction. According to Lebanese official sources, drone and warplane attacks on Wednesday hit multiple locations across southern and eastern Lebanon, killing at least five individuals and injuring three medical crew members. A school building was also severely damaged in the bombardment.
Paramedics targeted, homes destroyed
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that two people died in drone strikes on the town of Mefdoun, while further raids struck areas between Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Zawtar al-Gharbiya. In the western Bekaa town of Zellaya, an airstrike hit the home of a municipal council head, killing two more people. Separate attacks in southern Lebanon killed one person and wounded three paramedics affiliated with the Islamic Health Authority after an Israeli drone targeted them in Deir Kifa. Another strike in Adshit, Nabatieh district, claimed an additional life. Israeli warplanes also bombed the towns of Rishknaniyah, Safad al-Battikh, Baraachit and Qallawiyeh.
