Israeli Strikes Kill 9 Palestinians in Gaza Despite Ceasefire Deal

Israeli forces have conducted multiple attacks across Gaza resulting in nine Palestinian fatalities and numerous injuries, despite the ceasefire agreement reached Thursday between Israel and Hamas. The military operations targeted northern, central, and southern Gaza regions, striking civilian areas including residential buildings and shelters housing displaced families.

In Gaza City, an Israeli strike destroyed a central residential building, killing three Palestinians including two women and leaving others missing. Separate attacks targeted the Zeitoun, Sabra, and al-Nafaq Street neighborhoods, while drones opened fire on displaced civilians sheltering at Yarmouk School, causing multiple injuries. Later Thursday, a bombardment in Sabra district killed four family members and left approximately forty people trapped under rubble.

Central Gaza experienced several incidents, including Israeli gunfire wounding Palestinians attempting travel near the Nuseirat refugee camp. In Khan Younis, military operations killed one man in the Al-Biyuk neighborhood and a woman in the Hamd residential area, with additional injuries reported near the Bani Suhaila roundabout. The attacks employed various methods including airstrikes, artillery bombardments, and small arms fire.

The violence occurred despite the ceasefire agreement announced following four days of indirect negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh involving mediators from Türkiye, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. The agreement, based on a 20-point plan presented in September, includes hostage-prisoner exchanges and phased Israeli withdrawals, though immediate implementation appears challenged by continued military operations.
