Local authorities said the head of Khan Younis police investigations unit was among three Palestinians killed in Sunday's attacks across the Gaza Strip, which occurred in areas outside Israeli army deployment under the terms of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since October 2025.

Police official targeted

The head of the Khan Younis police investigations unit was killed on Sunday alongside two other Palestinians during Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, local authorities said, as Tel Aviv continued to breach a ceasefire agreement in effect since October 2025.

Wissam Fayez Abdel Hadi and Sergeant Fadi Abdul-Maati Heikal died when an airstrike targeted their vehicle in Al-Amal neighborhood west of Khan Younis, the General Directorate of Police in Gaza stated. Medical sources told Anadolu that a separate drone strike killed one civilian and wounded two others in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

Attacks across coastal enclave

In Gaza City, two fishermen sustained injuries from naval gunfire while at sea, local sources told Anadolu. Israeli gunboats fired shells and opened heavy machine-gun fire toward the coastline, the sources added. Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli forces also carried out demolition operations targeting residential buildings east of Gaza City, causing a large explosion, while shelling hit the town of Al-Qarara north of Khan Younis.

Truce violations mount

Since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, Israeli forces have killed around 850 Palestinians and injured 2,433 others through continued shelling and gunfire, Gaza's Health Ministry said. The agreement followed two years of war that began in October 2023, killing over 72,000 people, injuring more than 172,000, and destroying 90% of civilian infrastructure.
