Kim Jong Un Pledges Full Support to Russia in Sovereignty Defense

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has declared his country's complete backing for Russia's efforts to defend its national sovereignty and security interests. The message of support was conveyed through state-run media on Tuesday, highlighting the strengthening alliance between Pyongyang and Moscow.

In his communication, Kim addressed Putin as "my closest comrade" and extended warm congratulations on the Russian leader's birthday. The North Korean leader recalled their meeting in Beijing last September, where he initially affirmed Pyongyang's commitment to supporting Russia's position on international matters.

Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his dedication to implementing the interstate treaty between North Korea and Russia, describing it as a "fraternal duty." He expressed confidence that the allied relations between the two nations would continue to flourish in the coming years. The North Korean leader praised Putin's leadership in guiding Russia to demonstrate its strength as a world power.

South Korea's intelligence agency has reported significant military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, noting that Pyongyang has sent approximately 15,000 troops and weapons to support Russia's operations in Ukraine since last October. The agency also revealed that North Korea has suffered about 2,000 soldier casualties in the conflict. The comprehensive strategic partnership signed last year in Pyongyang formalizes the mutual commitments between Russia and North Korea, creating concerns among Western nations about shifting global power dynamics.
