Kremlin accuses Britain of joining Ukraine war against Russia

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has accused Britain of actively supporting Kyiv in the Russia-Ukraine war and of obstructing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict. His remarks followed a visit to Kyiv by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, with London expected to announce support for Ukraine’s development of long-range missiles based on British-made components used in Storm Shadow/SCALP systems.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused Britain on Monday of taking an active role on Ukraine’s side in the Russia-Ukraine war, arguing that London is contributing to the continuation of hostilities rather than supporting efforts toward a negotiated settlement.

Moscow accuses London of blocking diplomacy

Speaking to reporters in Moscow, Peskov said Britain was working against attempts to advance a peaceful resolution. He accused the British government of repeatedly taking steps that, in Moscow’s view, intensify the conflict.

“Britain is participating in this war,” Peskov said, claiming that London was “fueling” the fighting and pursuing measures that prevent progress toward a settlement.

His comments came as British Prime Minister Andy Burnham traveled to Kyiv. During the visit, Britain was expected to announce assistance for Ukraine’s development of long-range missiles using information related to British-made components incorporated into the Anglo-French Storm Shadow/SCALP missile system.

Kremlin warns of further escalation

Peskov said Moscow considers the planned British support another factor that could intensify the conflict. He added that Russian forces were attempting to locate facilities involved in producing missiles and other military equipment for Ukraine.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, Russian forces are taking steps aimed at destroying such sites. The comments signal that Moscow views Western military assistance to Kyiv as increasingly connected to the battlefield and its own military response.

Russia vows continued response to drone attacks

Peskov also addressed Ukrainian drone strikes against Russian commercial infrastructure, including facilities associated with online retailers Ozon and Wildberries. He said Kyiv was targeting logistics and commercial sites for various reasons but would not succeed in altering the broader military situation through such attacks.

“Russia’s responses to drone attacks are felt in Kyiv every day, every night — and will continue to be felt,” Peskov said.

Ukrainian drones have increasingly struck logistics hubs, warehouses and industrial facilities inside Russia, including sites linked to Wildberries and Ozon, as Kyiv has expanded attacks on infrastructure supporting Russia’s war effort.
