Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has revealed a direct phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump approximately ten days ago, a diplomatic contact occurring against a backdrop of severe military escalation and anti-drug operations targeting the South American nation.

A "Respectful" Yet Tense Exchange

The call, initiated by the White House, was described by Maduro as conducted "in a tone of respect." While Trump briefly acknowledged the discussion, he remained vague about its content. Maduro, speaking on state television, framed the interaction as a potential opening, stating in English, "Welcome dialogue, welcome diplomats, welcome peace. Peace, yes. War, never, never in your life."

Escalation in the Caribbean

This diplomatic nuance contrasts sharply with recent U.S. military maneuvers. The Trump administration has declared Venezuela's airspace "closed in its entirety" and deployed a significant naval fleet, including an aircraft carrier, to the Caribbean.
