Muslim population in Australia soars

The current Muslim population has soared to 2.6 percent of Australia’s population.

The 2016 census showed that the Muslim population in Australia has doubled to over 604,000 people

Islam has become Australia’s most popular non-Christian religion, the latest census figures revealed on Tuesday.

Since the 2006 census, the Muslim population in Australia has doubled from 341,000 to more than 604,000 people.

The current Muslim population has soared to 2.6 percent of Australia’s population, compared to 2.2 percent in 2011.

Islam overtook Buddhism as the most popular non-Christian religion.

The census results showed that the number of Australian Muslims has grown 160 percent since 1991.

Arabic is among the most common languages spoken in Australia after English.
