Netanyahu’s corruption trial hearing canceled after overnight lawyer’s message

A scheduled hearing in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption trial was canceled after the court received an overnight communication from his attorney, with no details disclosed. Netanyahu faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three cases dating back to 2019. Critics accuse him of exploiting conflicts to delay accountability.
The Tel Aviv District Court canceled a hearing scheduled for Monday in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s long-running corruption trial after receiving an undisclosed update from his lawyer overnight, Israeli media reported. “Following an update received from attorney Amit Hadad during the night,” the hearing will not take place, the court said, adding that no additional details were available “at this stage.” Netanyahu appeared before the court on April 28 for the 81st time, marking his first appearance since the US and Israel launched their war on Iran on Feb. 28.
Charges and delays
Netanyahu faces charges of corruption, bribery, and breach of trust in three cases, with indictments filed in 2019. The trials have been repeatedly delayed due to Israel’s military operations in Gaza (starting October 2023), Lebanon, Iran, and other fronts. Critics argue that Netanyahu is cynically prolonging conflicts to evade justice. One case involves allegations that Netanyahu and his family received expensive gifts from wealthy businessmen in exchange for political favors. Separately, Netanyahu is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, where Israel killed more than 72,000 Palestinians between October 2023 and October 2025.
