North Korea condemns new US sanctions, promises retaliation

North Korea has denounced the latest round of US sanctions, labeling Washington's policy as inherently hostile. A senior Pyongyang official declared that the measures would fail to alter the strategic balance and vowed that North Korea would take appropriate countermeasures in response to the American action.
North Korea has issued a strong condemnation of the United States following the imposition of new sanctions, accusing Washington of persisting with a hostile policy and promising to take corresponding actions. The statement from Pyongyang underscores the continued deterioration of relations between the two nations.
Official Condemnation
The response was delivered by Kim Un Chol, North Korea's Vice Foreign Minister for US affairs, through the state-run Korean Central News Agency. He characterized the US move as a betrayal, stating, "The U.S. has fully betrayed again its wicked nature to be hostile towards the DPRK till the end." He further warned that American tactics of pressure and blackmail would prove ineffective against his country's resolve.
The Sanctions and The Stance
This diplomatic rebuke comes directly after the US Treasury Department's announcement targeting eight individuals and two entities linked to North Korea. Washington alleges their involvement in generating revenue for the regime through illicit activities, including cybercrime. Despite the financial pressure, the North Korean official asserted that the sanctions would have zero impact on Pyongyang's strategic position or its policy direction toward the United States.
A Warning to Washington
Emphasizing the futility of the US approach, the vice foreign minister added that no amount of sanctions would shift the strategic situation in America's favor. The statement solidifies North Korea's intention to proceed with its own "proper measures," signaling a potential escalation in tensions rather than a move toward diplomacy.
