Pakistan and Egypt have called for restraint and de-escalation amid the mounting Middle East conflict while condemning Israeli aggression in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. The appeal came during a meeting between Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty in Islamabad. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support for the Palestinian people.

Pakistan and Egypt on Sunday reiterated their demand for restraint and de-escalation in the face of the escalating Middle East conflict, while jointly condemning the latest Israeli military actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. The statements came during a bilateral meeting in Islamabad.

Diplomatic talks in Islamabad

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, who is on a two-day visit to Pakistan to participate in a quadrilateral foreign ministers' meeting focused on ongoing mediatory efforts to end the regional conflict. According to a statement from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, the two ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East, and underscored the need for resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

Pakistan reaffirms support for Palestinians

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and strongly condemned the continued aggression by Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank. His remarks come as Israeli airstrikes continue to claim civilian lives despite a nominal ceasefire, with six Palestinians killed in Khan Younis early Sunday alone.

Egypt praised for Gaza relief efforts

The Pakistani foreign minister also expressed appreciation for Egypt's role in facilitating humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, including support extended to Pakistan's own relief operations. Egypt has served as a key conduit for aid entering the besieged enclave and has been actively involved in regional mediation efforts alongside Türkiye, Pakistan, and other actors.
