Participants voiced strong support for activists involved in the recent Global Sumud Flotilla mission, which Israeli naval forces intercepted last week while attempting to deliver humanitarian supplies to Gaza. The protestors condemned Israel's detention of over 470 international activists and reiterated demands for lifting the 18-year blockade affecting Gaza's 2.4 million residents.

The Manila demonstration occurred as Israeli and Hamas delegations commenced indirect negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to discuss a 20-point ceasefire proposal advanced by US President Donald Trump.
