Smoke rises from several locations following Israeli airstrikes targeting areas in the town of Khiam in the Nabatieh governorate in southern Lebanon, on March 17, 2026.

Four injured in safety incident in southern Lebanon, one from drone explosion; two others hurt in accident in northern Israel, all hospitalized.

Seven Israeli soldiers sustained injuries Sunday in separate incidents across southern Lebanon and northern Israel, Israeli media reported. All were transported to hospitals for treatment, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.

Incidents in southern Lebanon

Four soldiers suffered minor injuries due to a safety incident while operating in southern Lebanon, the daily reported. Another soldier was lightly wounded when a drone exploded near forces in the same region. The incidents highlight the persistent risks facing Israeli forces deployed along the northern border amid heightened regional tensions.

Accident in northern Israel

Two additional soldiers were slightly injured in an unrelated accident in northern Israel. No further details about the nature of the accident were immediately available. All seven soldiers are receiving medical care, with their injuries described as minor.

Broader context

The injuries come against the backdrop of escalating hostilities that began Feb. 28 when the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran. Tehran has retaliated with repeated drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, contributing to heightened military activity and operational risks across the region.
