A suicide attack on a scouts camp in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed a civilian and eight security personnel, wounding 35 others. The explosives-laden vehicle targeted the camp in Bajaur district bordering Afghanistan. No group has claimed responsibility.
A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle near a security institution in northwestern Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday night, killing a civilian and at least eight security personnel, local police confirmed on Friday.
Camp gate and walls damaged
The attack occurred when the vehicle attempted to enter a scouts camp in the Bajaur district, which lies along the border with Afghanistan. Thirty-five other security personnel were wounded in the blast, police said. The explosion damaged the camp’s gate and surrounding walls. No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Rise in militant violence
Pakistan’s northwestern regions have witnessed a surge in militant attacks in recent years, particularly targeting security forces and civilians. Islamabad has repeatedly accused the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) of operating from safe havens in neighboring Afghanistan, though Kabul denies the allegations. Türkiye has consistently condemned all forms of terrorism and expressed solidarity with Pakistan in its fight against extremism.
