Syria confirms SDF integration, March 10 deal in Trump-Sharaa talks

Syria's UN envoy says Presidents Trump and Sharaa reaffirmed implementation of the March 10 Agreement and integration of SDF forces into the Syrian state during their White House meeting. The discussions also covered economic cooperation and security arrangements with Israel.
Syria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations has confirmed that the historic White House meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Ahmed al-Sharaa reaffirmed key agreements including the integration of Syrian Democratic Forces into the state structure. Ambassador Ibrahim Olabi, in an interview with Syrian state television, detailed the comprehensive agenda covered during Monday's groundbreaking diplomatic encounter between the American and Syrian leaders.
Security and Military Integration
Ambassador Olabi stated that both leaders confirmed implementation of the March 10 Agreement and the process of "integrating the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian state." This represents a significant development in Syria's security architecture, particularly regarding the status of US-backed forces in northeastern Syria. The SDF, which has controlled substantial territory with American support, would transition to operating under Damascus authority according to the understanding reached between the two presidents.
Economic and Diplomatic Priorities
The Syrian envoy revealed that economic cooperation and direct investment opportunities formed a major component of the discussions, alongside security arrangements involving Israel. Olabi characterized Syrian diplomatic operations as functioning "in a parallel manner according to priorities determined by realities on the ground," indicating a pragmatic approach to addressing multiple challenges simultaneously. The talks also included President Trump's positive remarks regarding the Syrian people and their resilience throughout the country's prolonged conflict.
Urgent Implementation Emphasis
A notable feature of the negotiations was the repeated use of the phrase "We have to get this done" by both President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, signaling strong American commitment to rapid implementation of the agreed measures. This sense of urgency reflects the Trump administration's interest in achieving tangible results from the diplomatic breakthrough with Syria, particularly regarding security normalization and economic revitalization following years of conflict and international isolation.
