Three Lebanese rescuers trapped under rubble after Israeli strike

Civil defense personnel were hit while aiding wounded civilians in Majdal Zoun, as attacks continue despite an extended ceasefire. Over 2,500 killed since March.
Lebanon’s Civil Defense agency reported on Tuesday evening that three of its rescue workers are trapped under debris following an Israeli airstrike in the country’s south. The strike hit during a mission to assist people wounded in earlier attacks.
Rescuers targeted during mercy mission
“Civil defense personnel were targeted while carrying out a rescue and medical mission for people injured in an Israeli airstrike in the town of Majdal Zoun,” the agency said in a statement. It confirmed that three members remain buried under the rubble. The town is located in the Tyre district, an area that has witnessed repeated Israeli bombardment despite internationally backed truce efforts.
Ceasefire violations mount
Israel has continued its military operations in Lebanon despite a temporary ceasefire first announced by US President Donald Trump on April 17. Trump later extended the pause by three weeks after follow-up talks in Washington. Lebanese official figures show that since March 2, Israeli attacks have killed at least 2,534 people, wounded 7,863, and displaced more than 1.6 million.
