Trump calls for CNN's sale as Warner Bros. Discovery faces bids

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that CNN should be sold, criticizing its leadership as "corrupt or incompetent." His comments come as the network's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, evaluates competing multi-billion dollar acquisition offers from Netflix and Paramount.
President Donald Trump has publicly advocated for the sale of CNN, escalating his long-standing criticism of the news network. Speaking to reporters, Trump asserted that CNN's current leadership is unfit to run the organization and should be replaced through a corporate sale.
Trump's Critique and Demands
"I think CNN should be sold, because I think the people that are running CNN right now are either corrupt or incompetent," Trump stated. He added that any deal involving parent company Warner Bros. Discovery should guarantee CNN is either included or sold separately, claiming, "I don't think they should be entrusted with running CNN any longer." The president has frequently labeled CNN as "fake news" and accused it of bias.
Competing Billion-Dollar Acquisition Offers
The call for a sale coincides with a major corporate bidding war. Warner Bros. Discovery has received a substantial offer from Netflix, valued at $72 billion in equity, to acquire its studios and streaming assets. Paramount has submitted a competing counteroffer to purchase all shares for approximately $108.4 billion in enterprise value, which would provide more cash to shareholders than the Netflix proposal.
