Trump: Decision to end war will be made with Netanyahu

US President Donald Trump (L) meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (R) at the White House in Washington DC, United States on September 29, 2025.

US President Donald Trump announced that the timing for ending the American-Israeli offensive against Iran will be determined in coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In an interview with Israeli media, Trump stated he would make the final decision at the "right time" while taking all factors into account, including Netanyahu's views.

US President Donald Trump revealed Sunday that any decision to conclude the ongoing military campaign against Iran will be made jointly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaking to Israeli press, Trump emphasized that while he would ultimately make the call, he would carefully consider his Israeli counterpart's perspective on when to halt operations.

No fixed timeline for ending operations

Trump declined to specify a concrete timeline for ending the strikes against Iranian targets, stating he would make the decision at the "appropriate moment" after evaluating all relevant factors. "I will make the final decision, but I will take into account Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's views," Trump said, adding "We worked together and we destroyed a country that wanted to destroy Israel." The remarks underscore the close coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv throughout the military campaign.

Israel unlikely to continue alone

When questioned about the possibility of Israel continuing attacks unilaterally after the US halts its operations, Trump dismissed the scenario, stating "I don't think it will be necessary." The comment suggests Washington believes the military objectives against Iran will be sufficiently achieved by the time American forces conclude their participation, making independent Israeli action redundant.

Conflict enters second week

The US-Israeli offensive against Iran, launched Feb. 28, has entered its second week with no clear end in sight. The campaign has reportedly killed more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and senior military commanders. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israeli territory and American assets across the region. Trump's latest remarks indicate the alliance remains unified in its approach to the conflict, with both nations coordinating not only military operations but also the strategic decision of when to bring them to a close.
