US President Donald Trump has declared that Iran is no longer the “bully of the Middle East,” crediting a US military operation with weakening Tehran’s influence. Speaking at a Saudi business conference in Florida, he claimed the region is moving toward freedom from Iranian “terror aggression and nuclear blackmail.”

President Donald Trump delivered a sharp assessment of Iran’s regional standing on Friday, declaring that the country is no longer the dominant coercive force it once was in the Middle East. Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative, a Saudi business conference held in Florida, Trump asserted that after 47 years of being known as the “bully of the Middle East,” Iran is now “on the run.”

US military operation credited with shifting balance

Trump attributed the shift in regional dynamics to Operation Epic Fury, the ongoing US military campaign against Iran. He argued that Iranian “terror aggression” and “nuclear blackmail” had defined the country’s posture for decades, but said those days are now ending. “As you know, we’re gathered at a moment of bold action and historic decision to make America and our allies safer and stronger, more prosperous, more successful than ever before,” he told the audience.

Trump envisions Middle East ‘free at last’ from Iranian influence

The president painted an optimistic picture of the region’s future, suggesting that the current military operations are paving the way for a new era. “Tonight we’re closer than ever to the rise of the Middle East that is finally free at last, from Iranian terror aggression and nuclear blackmail,” Trump said. His remarks come amid ongoing US and Israeli strikes against Iran that began on February 28, which have drawn retaliatory attacks from Tehran targeting US assets and allies across the region. Türkiye, which has maintained diplomatic channels with both Washington and Tehran, continues to advocate for de-escalation and has warned that prolonged conflict risks destabilizing the entire region.
