Turkish Airlines selects GE Aerospace engines for new Boeing fleet

Turkish Airlines has announced a significant agreement with GE Aerospace to provide engines for its newly ordered Boeing aircraft fleet. The national flag carrier confirmed the partnership following competitive tender negotiations for engine procurement, spare engines, and maintenance services aligned with its substantial fleet expansion strategy.

Strategic Fleet Expansion

The engine agreement supports Turkish Airlines' previously announced decision to purchase 75 Boeing aircraft, comprising 50 firm orders and 25 options for B787-9 and B787-10 models. These new wide-body aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2034, representing a key component of the airline's strategic growth objectives aimed at generating significant value for stakeholders.

Comprehensive Procurement Package

The arrangement with GE Aerospace encompasses a complete engine package including operational engines, spare engines, and comprehensive maintenance services. This agreement follows the airline's September announcement of a massive 225-aircraft order from Boeing, which included both the 787 Dreamliners and 150 narrow-body 737 MAX aircraft, positioning Turkish Airlines for substantial future growth.

Competitive Selection Process

Turkish Airlines had been evaluating proposals from both GE Aerospace and Rolls-Royce for the engine requirements of its Boeing aircraft order. The selection of GE Aerospace concludes this competitive process and establishes a long-term partnership that will support the airline's operational expansion through the next decade, reinforcing Türkiye's position in global aviation.
