Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Sunday as part of a two-day visit focused on regional issues. The talks come as the US-Israeli war with Iran marks one month, with both Türkiye and Pakistan actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the escalating Middle East conflict.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar in Pakistan's capital on Sunday, according to Turkish diplomatic sources. The encounter marks the beginning of Fidan's two-day visit to Islamabad focused on pressing regional developments.

Two days of talks on regional stability

Fidan arrived in Islamabad to participate in two days of high-level discussions centered on the volatile situation in the Middle East. The timing of the visit coincides with the one-month mark of the US-Israeli war against Iran, a conflict that has drawn in multiple regional actors and caused widespread disruption.

Türkiye and Pakistan coordinate diplomatic push

Both Ankara and Islamabad have been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the ongoing hostilities. Türkiye has positioned itself as a key mediator, while Pakistan has confirmed its role in relaying messages between Washington and Tehran. The Fidan-Dar meeting is expected to further align the two countries' positions on potential pathways to de-escalation.

Wider regional context

The US-Israeli air offensive on Iran, which began on February 28, has so far killed more than 1,340 people, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation.
