Turkish industrial output rises monthly in December but falls annually

Türkiye's industrial production increased by 1.2% in December 2025 compared to the previous month, according to official data. However, on an annual basis, output declined, driven by a drop in the critical manufacturing sector.
Türkiye's industrial sector showed a positive monthly performance in the final month of 2025, though it contracted compared to the same period a year earlier. Data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) revealed that calendar-adjusted industrial production rose by 1.2% in December 2025 from November.
Broad-Based Monthly Gains Across Sectors
The monthly increase was broad-based, with all main industrial sub-sectors recording growth. The most significant rise was observed in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply index. Furthermore, the mining and quarrying index advanced by 1.3%, while the manufacturing index, the largest component, saw a 1% increase from the previous month.
Annual Comparison Reveals Manufacturing Contraction
When measured on a yearly basis, the overall industrial production figure declined. A closer look at the sub-indices shows a mixed picture: the mining and quarrying index grew by 1.9% annually, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply index increased by 2.4%. However, this growth was offset by a 2.7% annual decrease in the manufacturing index, which led to the overall yearly contraction in Türkiye's industrial output for December 2025.
