A group of 49 Syrian military cadets will begin their training at Turkish military academies starting Friday, according to a National Defense Ministry announcement. The program, part of a bilateral cooperation agreement, aims to enhance Syria's defense capabilities and strengthen military ties between the two nations.

Türkiye's National Defense Ministry has announced that 49 Syrian cadets will commence their military education at Turkish military academies on Friday. The training program falls under a memorandum of understanding between the two countries designed to strengthen Syria's defense and security infrastructure through joint training initiatives.

Cadet Distribution and Bilateral Cooperation

Ministry spokesperson Zeki Aktürk revealed during his weekly briefing that the Syrian cadets include 10 for army, 18 for navy, and 21 for air force training. He emphasized that the Syrian government continues its efforts to rebuild national institutions and ensure stability, with Türkiye supporting these objectives through military education cooperation.

International Military Education Role

The spokesperson highlighted Türkiye's expanding role in international military training, noting that 696 cadets and 241 non-commissioned officer students from 29 allied nations are currently receiving education at Turkish military institutions. This positions Türkiye as a significant contributor to global security cooperation and defense capacity building.

Regional Security Context

The announcement comes alongside continued Turkish security operations, with Aktürk reporting that seven PKK terrorists surrendered in the past week and that a significant tunnel network had been neutralized in northern Syria. The ministry also confirmed ongoing diplomatic and military consultations regarding regional security matters, including the situation in Gaza.
