Leading Turkish aerospace and defense companies are presenting their latest space technologies at Satellite 2026 in Washington, one of the world’s premier satellite exhibitions. Officials highlighted growing export capabilities and the strategic importance of Türkiye’s domestic industry, underscoring the nation’s self‑sufficiency in advanced space systems.

Türkiye’s rapidly advancing space sector took center stage at Satellite 2026, a major international exhibition held in Washington this week. Turkish firms including Turksat, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Aselsan, and Profen showcased their latest innovations at the three‑day event, which ran from March 23‑26 and brought together top commercial, military, and government technology leaders from around the globe.

Strengthening global presence

Deputy Transport and Infrastructure Minister Omer Fatih Saylan toured the exhibition alongside Turkish Ambassador to the US Sedat Onal, visiting company booths and engaging with industry representatives. Saylan emphasized that the export potential of the domestic satellite systems on display reflects the success of Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative. “Satellite‑based communications have become essential for global aviation and defense,” he said, noting that Türkiye takes pride in its companies’ ability to develop and export such critical technologies. Ambassador Onal stressed that advanced technology is central to both Türkiye’s national defense strategy and the deepening of bilateral relations with the United States.

Industry leaders on expansion

Turksat CEO Ahmet Hamdi Atalay noted that presenting alongside other domestic partners highlights Türkiye’s strength and self‑sufficiency in the global space market. TAI Executive Vice President Mustafa Gursoy said the delegation used the event to advance ongoing international proposals and strengthen ties with global supply chain partners. Profen Deputy General Manager Yusuf Orbay Soydan, whose company has maintained a consistent presence at the exhibition for nearly a decade, emphasized that sustained visibility is essential for expanding Türkiye’s export reach and global reputation in the space sector.

A strategic bridge

As Türkiye continues to invest in its domestic space capabilities, its presence at Satellite 2026 underscores the nation’s growing role as a key player in the global space economy. With a focus on indigenous development, export growth, and strategic partnerships, Ankara is positioning itself as a reliable hub for advanced space technologies—bridging commercial innovation with defense needs and strengthening its standing among the world’s leading spacefaring nations.
