Türkiye strongly condemns deadly police station attack in Pakistan

Ankara has condemned “in the strongest terms” a suicide bombing and gun assault on a police station in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province that killed at least 15 officers. Türkiye reaffirmed solidarity with Islamabad in its fight against terrorism.
Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry on Sunday issued a strong condemnation of a deadly attack targeting a police station in northwestern Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, expressing grief over the loss of life.
Condolences and solidarity
In a written statement, the ministry extended condolences to the families of the victims and to the Pakistani people. “Türkiye will continue to stand in solidarity with Pakistan in its fight against all forms and manifestations of terrorism,” the statement said. The attack, described as one of the deadliest in recent months, occurred Saturday night in the Bannu District.
Details of the assault
According to local media reports, at least 15 police officers were killed in a combined suicide bomb and gun attack. Dawn News reported that a suspected suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle into a police checkpoint. After the blast, gunmen opened fire and detonated additional explosives. Rising militant violence
Pakistan has seen a surge in militant violence in recent years, with many attacks attributed to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Islamabad accuses the group of operating from Afghan territory, though Afghanistan has rejected the allegations. Türkiye has long supported Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and continues to call for regional cooperation to combat extremism.
