Marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Türkiye has pledged unwavering support for Palestinian freedom and a just peace. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the critical need for a two-state solution as the foundation for lasting stability in the region, vowing continued Turkish diplomatic efforts.

Türkiye has reiterated its firm backing of the Palestinian struggle for statehood during commemorations for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The annual observation, held on November 29, serves as a global reminder of the long-standing pursuit of peace and self-determination for Palestinians.

Diplomatic Push for Two-State Vision

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan used the occasion to underscore Ankara's diplomatic commitment. "We will persist with the same resolve in our efforts to establish a fair and lasting peace where our Palestinian siblings can live in freedom and prosperity," Fidan stated in a post on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal. He highlighted that Türkiye remains a leading voice in advocating for Palestinian rights on the international stage.

A Historical Context for Solidarity

The minister pointed to the implementation of a two-state solution as an indispensable component for achieving long-term regional peace. The UN-established day traces its origins to 1977, following the historical 1947 UN General Assembly resolution that proposed partitioning Palestine into separate Arab and Jewish states.

Türkiye's Consistent Stance

Ankara's statements reinforce its long-standing political stance, which prioritizes the Palestinian cause and champions a negotiated settlement based on international parameters. This year's reaffirmation comes amid ongoing tensions and underscores Türkiye's intent to remain actively engaged in seeking a peaceful path forward for the region.
