Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held phone calls with US and Pakistani officials who participated in the Iran-US talks in Islamabad. The discussions covered the positions presented during the negotiations and the next steps, following 21 hours of talks that ended without an agreement.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Sunday engaged in phone conversations with US and Pakistani officials who took part in the recently concluded Iran-US talks in Islamabad. According to Turkish diplomatic sources, the calls focused on the positions put forward by the parties during the negotiations and the potential next steps in the process.
No breakthrough in Islamabad
Iranian and US delegations wrapped up 21 hours of talks early Sunday without reaching an agreement. The negotiations, hosted by Pakistan, were part of broader efforts to end the US-Israeli war on Iran that began on Feb. 28. More than 3,000 people have been killed in US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran since the conflict began.
Retaliation and fragile ceasefire
Tehran launched retaliatory strikes on Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets before a two-week ceasefire was announced earlier this week. Türkiye continues to monitor the diplomatic process closely, with Foreign Minister Fidan actively consulting key stakeholders to support regional stability.
