Türkiye's intel chief meets Egyptian counterpart in Ankara

National Intelligence Organization (MIT) chief Ibrahim Kalin on Tuesday hosted Egyptian General Intelligence Service head Hassan Rashad in Ankara for talks covering the Gaza ceasefire and broader regional security challenges, security sources said.

Gaza ceasefire and Palestinian support

The two intelligence chiefs evaluated the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement amid mounting concerns over Israel’s escalating violations, the sources noted. Kalin emphasized Ankara’s steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause, stating that Türkiye would continue to stand by the Palestinian people "with all its means."

Both sides agreed to enhance coordination mechanisms to prevent further breaches of the truce, according to the same sources. The discussions reflected shared concerns over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave and the need for sustained diplomatic pressure on Tel Aviv.

Regional security files

The meeting also addressed efforts to unify Libya’s rival administrations and military forces under a single authority, as well as developments in Somalia and the ongoing conflict between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces. Kalin and Rashad additionally reviewed the current state of bilateral relations between Ankara and Cairo, signaling a continued thaw in ties following years of estrangement.
