Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said cruise missiles hit the Titan-Barrikady military facility in southern Russia overnight, describing the attack as part of expanding long-range strikes against defense infrastructure.

Ukrainian forces struck a military-industrial complex in the southern Russian city of Volgograd overnight using cruise missiles, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday. The attack targeted the Titan-Barrikady plant, a major defense facility that produces artillery systems and specialized equipment used in strikes against Ukraine.

Writing on social media platform X, Zelenskyy identified the weapons used as FP-5 Flamingo missiles and labeled the site a "just target for our long-range sanctions." He stated the plant manufactures components for missile launch systems deployed against Ukrainian targets. "The reach of Ukraine's long-range sanctions continues to expand. And it is precisely our pressure, day after day, that lays the groundwork for a dignified peace in the end," he said.

Casualties confirmed

Volgograd Governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed that a production facility in the Krasnooktyabrsky district suffered damage during the overnight attack. "Unfortunately, there was a fatality as a result of today's missile attack," Bocharov said, reporting that workers had recovered the body of a plant employee during cleanup operations.

The governor added that 11 people were hospitalized following the strike, with two remaining in serious condition. Emergency services continued searching for another individual reported missing at the industrial site, according to the regional administration.

Air defense operations

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that its air defenses intercepted 175 Ukrainian drones over 10 regions, as well as the Black Sea and Crimea — which Moscow annexed in 2014. The ministry issued the statement separately from the Volgograd incident and did not specify whether the claimed drone interceptions occurred during the same overnight period.

Independent verification of both sides' claims remains difficult due to the ongoing conflict.
