US strikes Iran’s Qeshm port, Bandar Abbas: Report

The US military has carried out strikes on Iran’s Qeshm port and Bandar Abbas, according to a Fox News reporter citing a senior US official. The official added that the action does not restart the war or end the existing ceasefire.
The United States military conducted strikes on Iran’s Qeshm port and the coastal city of Bandar Abbas on Thursday, a Fox News reporter said, citing a senior US official.
Strike not a war restart
“A senior US official tells me that it was a US military strike on Iran’s Qeshm port and Bandar Abbas moments ago but added this is not a restarting of the war or end to the ceasefire,” journalist Jennifer Griffin posted on X. The official also confirmed to Fox News that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had abruptly halted permission for the US to use their bases and airspace for “Project Freedom”—a decision that the official said has since been reversed.
Türkiye’s position
The strikes come amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region following the US-Israeli war against Iran that began on February 28. A Pakistan-brokered ceasefire took effect on April 8 but has been repeatedly strained. Türkiye has consistently warned against any military escalation in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that regional security and global energy supplies depend on restraint and dialogue.
