‘You’re killing children!’ Vance heckled at Georgia event

US Vice President JD Vance was interrupted by a protester shouting “You’re killing children!” during a speech at the University of Georgia. Vance defended the Trump administration’s Gaza policy, blaming the previous Biden administration for the “catastrophe” and claiming credit for a ceasefire and increased aid.
US Vice President JD Vance faced a heated interruption while delivering remarks at the University of Georgia on Tuesday, when a person in the audience shouted, “You’re killing children!” The outburst highlighted ongoing anger over the Trump administration’s Gaza policy as Vance was defending its foreign policy approach.
Protesters shout ‘Jesus doesn’t support genocide’
Vance had been discussing the pope’s role as a peace advocate and asking whether God sides with those who “willed the sword” during World War II. Before he could finish, a protester yelled, “Jesus doesn’t support genocide!” Vance responded, “I agree Jesus Christ certainly does not support genocide.” As the audience booed, Vance asked the protester to let him finish. He then blamed the previous administration for Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, stating, “When we came in, the humanitarian situation in Gaza was an absolute catastrophe. Who got a peace agreement in Gaza? Donald J. Trump!”
Vance defends administration’s record
When the protester shouted again, “You’re killing children!” Vance replied, “Right now, you see more humanitarian aid coming into Gaza than any time in the past five years because we have taken that situation seriously.” The US has faced longstanding criticism for supporting Israel’s war in Gaza, where more than 72,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 2023. A ceasefire was reached in October 2025, but violations remain frequent. Several American lawmakers have called on the US government to halt weapons supplies to Israel.
