Seljuk cemetery in eastern Turkey attracts tourists
A view of tombstones at Ahlat Seljuk Square Cemetery which is UNESCO’s permanent list of world heritage, during a sunset in Ahlat district of Bitlis, Turkey on August 26, 2021. Seljuk Square Cemetery is known as the largest historical Islamic graveyard in the Turkish-Islamic world, built on a 220-square-meter area, includes around 8,200 tombs with reliefs and carvings, as well. Graveyard attracts scores of foreign and local tourists each year.
