Erdogan Vows Unconditional Support for Bosnia’s Sovereignty in Istanbul Meeting
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan officially welcomed Denis Becirovic, the current chair of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s three-member presidency, with a full ceremonial reception at Istanbul’s historic Dolmabahce Palace. The high-level encounter underscored Ankara’s resolute commitment to safeguarding Bosnia’s unity amid rising regional tensions.
Bilateral Talks Focus on Territorial Integrity
Following the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders held a private meeting where they addressed bilateral relations and pressing regional issues. According to a statement from Türkiye’s Presidential Communications Directorate shared on the NSosyal platform, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye will continue to provide unconditional support for Bosnia-Herzegovina’s sovereignty, constitutional order, and territorial integrity. He stressed that the Balkans have no room for further adventurism and that inflammatory rhetoric targeting Bosnia’s internal cohesion would only backfire.
Erdogan Warns Against Fait Accompli Threats to Bosniaks
The Turkish leader further noted that it is now more critical than ever for all supporters of Bosnia’s integrity to act in unison. He made clear that any fait accompli violating the vital interests of the Bosniak people is completely unacceptable to Türkiye. Becirovic, who assumed the rotating presidency chair this month, represents the Bosniak community in a tripartite system that also includes Croat and Serb members.
