Turkish official: Growing Türkiye-Saudi cooperation reflects Erdogan’s vision

Communications Director Burhanettin Duran stated that expanding transportation and logistics ties between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia reflects President Erdogan’s diplomatic vision. He noted that alternative transport routes developed in response to regional crises are strengthening bilateral cooperation, regional stability, and economic continuity.
Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran highlighted on Thursday the growing cooperation between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia in transportation, logistics, and regional connectivity, describing it as a reflection of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s diplomatic vision. In a statement on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Duran said Türkiye has historically stood at the crossroads of major trade routes linking continents and continues to play a significant role in regional connectivity and economic cooperation. “The growing cooperation between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia in transportation, logistics and regional connectivity is a concrete reflection of the visionary diplomacy put forward by our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan,” Duran said.
Regional connectivity
Duran noted that transportation corridors, which once connected civilizations, are now helping advance trade, development, and prosperity. He said alternative transport routes developed in response to regional crises—such as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to the Iran war—are strengthening not only bilateral cooperation between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia but also regional stability and economic continuity. “Under the leadership of our president, Türkiye will continue to strengthen regional connectivity and open new opportunities based on mutual benefit, cooperation and shared development,” he said.
Türkiye-Saudi relations
Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have significantly improved relations in recent years, following a period of tension after the 2018 killing of Jamal Khashoggi. Bilateral trade has increased, and Saudi Arabia has invested in Turkish defense, energy, and construction sectors. Turkish companies are also participating in Saudi Vision 2030 projects. The emphasis on logistics and transport ties suggests that the two countries are working on alternative routes to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, possibly through Iraq or the Gulf.
