Türkiye completes security preparations for NATO summit in Ankara

Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci announced on Monday that authorities have completed extensive security arrangements for the 36th NATO summit set to open Tuesday in Ankara. Speaking after chairing a coordination meeting at the Interior Ministry, Ciftci emphasized that all relevant institutions would operate in full coordination throughout the two-day gathering.

Erdogan's leadership hailed

Ciftci described Türkiye's hosting of the summit during heightened global challenges as a historic achievement, attributing the success to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's diplomatic leadership. "This success is the result of the strong leadership of our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, his determined commitment to peace and diplomacy, Türkiye's growing international standing, and our state's strong institutional capacity," he said.

Multi-layered measures

The minister outlined a comprehensive security architecture addressing potential risks across multiple domains including accommodation sites and public order. "We addressed every aspect with the same level of attention, from airports and summit venues to accommodation sites, transportation routes, cybersecurity and potential public order risks," Ciftci stated, adding that police and gendarmerie units would deploy coordinated resources.

Summit convenes

The 36th NATO Leaders Summit formally begins Tuesday in the capital with member-state delegations arriving throughout Monday amid tight security protocols. The gathering convenes as the alliance continues strategic recalibration efforts amid evolving global security challenges.
